Grenoble metropolitan area (French: aire urbaine) as defined by INSEE is a residential area near the city of Grenoble.
It has 664,832 inhabitants and an area that covers a modest strip of territory from the city of Gresse-en-Vercors to Le Touvet and Voiron, including cities like Lans-en-Vercors and Chamrousse.
With 197 communes, 53 of the urban area are pôle urbain. In 2008, its 664,832 residents make it the 10th urban area of France.〔(INSEE website )〕
Its INSEE code is 010.

This statistic-based metropolitan area is divided into multiple administrative divisions. Among them are :
